Authentic, Sincere, Unique…
Elbert County is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, headed by a Chairman. Each board member is elected to serve a four-year term, overseeing their own district.
Board of Commissioner meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month, at 5:30 p.m., in the BOC meeting room. A work session is offered the Thursday before the regular Monday meeting, at 5:00 p.m., in the conference room. These meetings and other city and authority meetings will be found within our calendar.

Honorable Lee Vaughn
I am a native of Elbert County and truly love this community. This is my third year as a county commissioner. I am involved in community service organizations and work actively with various boards and committees to explore new avenues of growth for our area. I have been a community banker for over 20 years. My wife is an educator in our local school system, and we have three children. We are members of the First United Methodist Church in Elberton.
Honorable Horace Harper
I am a native of Elbert County, Georgia and a county commissioner for 16 years. I’ve been the President of the Elberton Granite Association and have worked with others in the community to provide recreation facilities for our young people. I have done everything I can to build-up and promote this wonderful place where I live, and where I raised my family.
